Day 1

Naka no ura Beach

Naka no ura Beach

This attraction, which was the main reason I decided to visit Shikinejima after simply looking at the pictures, is the Naka-no-ura Beach. It is acclaimed as a hidden gem of Japan.
Uma no Kubi (Horse Head)

Uma no Kubi (Horse Head)

Simply by looking at this picture, do you get the illusion of being at the Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin? This is the place on Shikinejima that the locals refer to as 'Horse Head.' They believe that this mountain resembles a horse's head drinking water from the sea, hence the name.
Jinata Onsen

Jinata Onsen

Jinata Onsen is nestled between coastal mountains. The view below when seen from above is spectacular.

In the forest, there is a variety of native wildlife and plants in their natural habitats. You can spot adorable squirrels and various types of mushrooms sprouting after the rain.
Kanbiki Observation Deck

Kanbiki Observation Deck

At the highest point stands the observatory of Shikinejima, known as a sacred spot of Shikinejima. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the coastline. The vastness of the sky and sea scenery can instantly dispel any gloomy mood. In this moment, all you can feel is the magnanimity and openness of nature. It teaches you to let go of everything, to be serene, and enjoy.
