There are lots of ways to make camp more exciting. A toast with friends is fun, and the moment you open the lid of the Dutch oven is the ultimate thrill. But the best way to really keep the excitement going is with a bonfire. One camping master put it this way: "A bonfire is the television of the forest." The flames never take the same shape twice, and just watching them will clear your mind and relax your soul. And when you look away, you'll realize that you have nature and friends all around you.
As with many campsites, Lodge Kanotoiwa does not allow open fires. A bonfire stand is required. These come in two types – one that holds cooking utensils, and one just for bonfires – so choose the one that fits your style.
And no camp is complete without snacks! Why not roast marshmallows over the bonfire flames? That gooey sweetness will relax your body after a day of moving around.

After you tear down camp the next day, refresh yourself at a hot spring! In Akiruno-shi, right next to Hinohara-mura and home to popular campsites and the barbecue spot Akigawa
Valley, you'll find the Seoto-no-Yu hot spring in a single-story building settled amidst the Nishitama mountains. When camping is done and you soak in the hot water of the outdoor
bath as you take in the mountain scenery, you can feel your muscles slowly loosening. The waters are a simple alkaline hot spring with a thickness that seems to cover the skin,
promising beautifying effects.
This relaxing experience offers the perfect transition from the extraordinary back to the ordinary.
