Hinode-machi

Hinode-machi, offering walks through the city as well as the mountains. Shrines, temples, and spiritual sites dot the woodland areas. At an elevation of 902 m, Mt. Hinode overlooks the Kanto Plain. The 80-year-old Shinonome Sanso inn with a wood stove and no gas or running water requires reservations to stay.

On the first day, I chose to hike through the forest straight to Mt. Hinode. I took public transport to the foot of the mountain where the Shiraiwa Falls were, and started my one-day hiking itinerary.

Finally, I climbed to the top of the mountain and was greeted by a vast forest. Continuing forward, I saw trees standing tall in this mountain range; I began to sweat profusely, feeling a bit sore in my legs.

Tsurutsuru Hot Spring

Tsurutsuru Hot Spring

After descending the mountain, to reward myself for the strenuous climb, I headed to Tsurutsuru Hot Spring located at the foot of the mountain. In the Okutama region, hot springs are very famous. The hot spring water here is colorless and transparent, with sulfur content, which can make the skin very smooth.
