Tama 2 days 1 night Akiruno/Hinohara/Hinode

Honey Bee Farm Museum

This hands-on museum is popular for its beekeeping farm tours, and candle-making with beeswax. After the tour, you can shop for a wide variety of honeys or enjoy honey-rich confections in its café.
Note: Tour and experience are for groups of 5 or more.The café is currently being renovated as of February 2019.

Tokura Shiroyama Terrace

This lodging and tourism facility in a repurposed school building combines four functions: experience, lodging, dining, and exhibitions. Enjoy a school lunch-style meal at the restaurant Shokuinshitsu, a play on the words “eating and drinking place” and “teacher’s lounge.” The third floor features exhibitions related to Akigawa basin geography, culture and heritage.

Akigawa Keikoku Seoto-no-Yu Spa

A cottage nestled between the Akigawa Valley and western Tama mountains. In addition to one of the most popular hot springs in Japan that make your skin smooth, it offers a footbath and a shop that sells vegetables harvested by local farmers in the morning.

Ootake Limestone Caves

This limestone cave is a natural monument in Tokyo. There’s lots to see inside, including unique stalagmites that have been named by the locals. Be sure to have a guide show you around.

[Lunch] Kurochaya

This restaurant in a 250-year-old house built for the village headman overlooks the Akigawa Valley. Enjoy a Kaiseki style meal of charcoal-broiled cuisine and traditional village foods made with locally-sourced ingredients. There are other relaxing spots nearby such as Chikuan, which is popular for its oyaki buns, and the outdoor terrace Mizu-no-oto.

Hinode Washi (Japanese paper)

(Tour of paper mulberry trees and washi-making)

Experience making traditional papercraft for modern lifestyles, such as paper lamps and smartphone cases. There are paper mulberry trees used to make washi on the premises, so you can witness the craft from raw materials all the way to paper processing.
