Richiko Suzuki

Ms. Suzuki is a TOKYO REPORTER for the winter season.
She took a two-day, one-night trip to Okutama machi; visiting a lakeside, mountain and waterfall blanketed in snow. After climbing the mountain, she relaxed at a hot spring.

Day 1

Lake Okutama

Lake Okutama

Snowy lake Okutama - if the heavy snow of January remains, it makes it somewhat poetic, doesn't it?
Mugiyama Floating Bridge

Mugiyama Floating Bridge

Let's cross this floating brige...
Nonki-ya

Nonki-ya

The floating bridge was actually closed, OMG! I also couldn't ignore my growling tummy, so I went to a long-established ramen restaurant called "Nonki-ya", where I ordered a Chinese noodle with roasted pork fillet and homemade pan-fried dumplings. Hand-made wavy noodles look truly unique and this soup has a very mild taste! I could have ordered fried rice as well, but decided to stop at these two dishes with dinner in mind.

The view of Hyakuhironotaki - I was on the verge of tears when I made it here.

I didn't take the winter climbing seriously enough - sorry!

But the view was so wonderful and I'm glad to be here! I found myself on the verge of crying but also felt my stubbornness easing... my downsides were disappearing :)
Moegi no Yu

Moegi no Yu

I learned that this bath is beneficial for poor blood circulation, which affects many women. So, I indulged by soaking in this open-air bath with the sound of a stream flowing before the sunset. The thick hot water turned my skin a healthy pink color ★ Some local residents were also there so my heart was pounding in the bath but I could still relax because they talked to me in such a friendly way.
