Oshima

Oshima, or Izu Oshima. The largest of the Izu Islands. The closest outlying island from Tokyo. Known for the 1986 eruption of Mount Mihara as well as Habu Port, featured in "The Dancing Girl of Izu (Izu no odoriko)" by Yasunari Kawabata. An island for swimming in the summer and flowering Camellia japonica in the winter.

We first went to the hotel "Asakaikan," where we were staying for the evening, to store our luggage. Afterwards, we drove to the "Oshima Circular Road" to look around.

The "Oshima Circumferential Road" is about 43 kilometers long. It goes around the periphery of Izu Oshima and you can see different scenery!
Our first stop was "in front of the formation fault"!

Continuing our drive, we arrived at "Habu Port".

Continuing to walk along the "Oshima Circumferential Road", we came to "Hafu Port Observation Deck"

After leaving the observation deck and continuing to walk, we came to "Fudejima".Hashima Coast is also one of the designated attractions in "Tokyo's Historic Places" and "Japan's Top 100 Nagisa".There are stairs nearby, and you can walk to the nearest seaside to view the coast of Pen Island from different angles.

Today, I'll take the boat back to Takeshiba at 2:00 pm, so this morning I'll visit only one place - Izu Oshima Toshikan. We've scheduled to participate in the tsubaki oil making experience at 10:00 am.

The experience begins! First, we put a bowl of Tsubaki fruit into the press (perhaps?) and then use a wooden stick to crush the fruit as much as possible.

The instructor poured the camellia oil into a small bottle and reminded us to let the water evaporate when we get home. The small bottle is perfect for souvenirs XD. However, the water in this bottle has not evaporated yet, so the oil appears yellow.
