Day 1

Ome-shi

Ome-shi

A city in the western part of Tokyo prefecture.
It covers 104 square kilometers.
Yet, it is like a hidden paradise, pure and breathtakingly beautiful.
Very few people know about this place. Unlike the top choices for tourists visiting Japan such as Disneyland, Shinjuku, and Shibuya, it lacks the hustle and bustle of these places. Instead, it quietly adorns the world with its serene ambiance.
Ishigami-mae Station

Ishigami-mae Station

Departing from Tokyo's Shinjuku, I took the JR Chuo Line to Ome Station, then transfered to the rapid train in the opposite direction and got off at Ishigami Station. Before my eyes was stunning greenery.
Mt. Mitake entrance

Early morning is the perfect time - the air is fresh and the greenery charming. Next stop: Mount Mitake! If you're feeling lazy, you can even choose to take the cable car up the mountain!
Cable car

Cable car

Haha, of course I chose to take the cable car up to the mountain entrance.
The approach to Musashi Mitake Shrine

The approach to Musashi Mitake Shrine

With its lush greenery and unique beauty, Mount Mitake is an excellent hiking destination.
Musashi Mitake Shrine 1

Musashi Mitake Shrine 1

After walking for a short while, I arrived at Musashi Mitake Shrine. Every April, this place is adorned with greenery and cherry blossoms. Nature has purity that is hard to imagine. Every early March, early May, and early November, large-scale worship events are held at the shrine. People pray for the health and safety of their families throughout the year, free from calamities and illness.

It's a pity that I came at a time when I could neither see the cherry blossoms, nor participate in the worship rituals. Nevertheless, I found solace in the lush greenery of the mountains. The combination of nature's craftsmanship and human ingenuity is truly remarkable!
Mountain path

On the moss-covered rocks, many crimson leaves lay damp, resting peacefully on the stones, reminding me that it's already October. Every year from the middle to the end of November, the entire mountainside here is covered with red leaves. The beauty of the fallen leaves returning to their roots, along with Nanayo Falls- it is simply beyond words.
Rock Garden

Rock Garden

A little further ahead is Rock Garden. Surrounded by lush greenery, it is a unique sight to behold. This rock really rocks!
Ayahiro Falls

Ayahiro Falls

Of course, I wouldn't miss listening to the soothing sound of the Ayahiro Falls!
The streets of Musashi Mitake Shrine Village.

Before heading down the mountain, even though I wasn't hungry, I couldn't resist having a bowl of specialty noodles in the streets of Musashi Mitake Shrine Village. The flavor was amazing!
Okutama Seiryu no Yado Okutama-ji

Okutama Seiryu no Yado "Okutama-ji"

After a 10-kilometer hike, I was completely exhausted. I needed to take a good rest. This time I stayed at Okutama Seiryu no Yado, 'Okutama-ji,' which is famous among the locals. It felt more like a traditional Japanese mansion than a hotel, although words might not accurately capture its essence.
Hot spring

Hot spring

No more words needed. It's time to descend the mountain, check into the hotel, enjoy dinner, and soak in the hot spring... I'm not skipping any of these steps...
The next day, I slept so well until I woke up naturally.

Day 2

Shiofune Kannon Temple 1

Shiofune Kannon Temple 1

I got up, and headed towards Shiofune Kannon Temple, which has a history dating back around 1300 years.
Watching the clouds drift by at Shiofune Kannon Temple was not a bad choice at all.
Shiofune Kannon Temple 2

Shiofune Kannon Temple 2

The azure sky with billowing white clouds and the lush greenery with traditional tiled roofs, white steps and brown eaves, and red railings. The architecture here showcases typical local features, yet subtly integrates some foreign elements, thus making it a blend of tradition and modernity, nature and daily life.
Shiofune Kannon Temple 3

Shiofune Kannon Temple 3

Every spring, the temple grounds are adorned with around 20,000 azalea bushes, creating a spectacular display of colorful blooms in various shades of purple and red. It's a pity that it is cool autunm weather in October and the flower blooming season has passed. I can only make up for what I have missed next time!
The sky is clear and blue, the gentle breeze is blowing, and the leaves are rustling. It'd be so cool to build a house in the midst of such lush greenery and live a life close to nature, tending to horses and chopping firewood.
Ome Station

Ome Station

When in Ome, the Akatsuka Fujio Kaikan Museum and the Showa Retro Goods Museum are a must-visit.

Akatsuka Fujio Kaikan Museum

Akatsuka Fujio is a famous Japanese manga artist who made comedy manga such as 'Tensai Bakabon' and 'Osomatsu-kun'. He has also created numerous famous manga characters. In 2008, this manga artist passed away. In his honor, his hometown of Ome established a memorial museum for him.
Showa Retro Goods Museum

Showa Retro Goods Museum

The Akatsuka Fujio Museum and the Showa Retro Goods Museum have been friendly and harmonious neighbors for many years. Both are two-story buildings, exquisitely designed and full of character.
But what surprised me is that even many Tokyo residents haven't visited this place, and I might be among the first five Chinese people to come here. I feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful and picturesque town nestled among the mountains and waters!
Summing it up

Summing it up

Although Ome City may be small, it's full of charms. Besides its beautiful scenery, there are so many interesting places to explore in Ome. Anyone tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city would want to escape it. For those thinking of finding a secluded paradise to live peacefully for the rest of their lives, a beautiful and pristine small town like Ome must be the top choice.
