Tama and Shima TAMASHIMA

Tama and Shima TAMASHIMA

TAMA, just a short trip from Tokyo, a mountain where you can feel the change of the seasons.
SHIMA, an island where whales and various fish live in the sea, and volcanic islands retain their unique beauty
We went on a trip to TAMASHIMA, which is now a favorite weekend getaway for Tokyoites.
Take a high-speed jet to the island!

Take a high-speed jet to the island!

From Takeshima Terminal, you can take the monorail to Odaiba and get off at Takeshiba Station.
At the Takeshiba ferry terminal, you can board a boat to the Tokyo Islands
This ship is a high-speed jet boat that travels to islands such as Oshima and Toshima, and is like the islanders' feet.
Island hopping is in full swing these days
Toshima is also known as Camellia Island

Toshima is also known as Camellia Island

Toshima is a small island with a population of about 300 people, but it is part of Fuji Hakoneizu National Park.
80% of the island is covered with camellia trees. The camellias bloom in winter, and lilies bloom in early summer.
I visited in October and unfortunately didn't see any camellias, but if you go from December to March, you'll be able to see beautiful camellias all over the place.

Lunch

For lunch I had Kastudon at a restaurant located in Toshima that is said to be the perfect place to eat after a day of sightseeing.
The island's only school

The island's only school

As an island town with a population of about 300 people, the elementary and junior high schools share a building.
I heard that most of the students go to the Tokyo mainland for high school, staying with relatives or living on their own.
It reminds me of our own island villages for some reason.
Fishing

For those who enjoy fishing, this is a paradise.
